Max's tree

Christy and Erin came to visit today and Chris snapped this piture of Max with his Christmas tree. He's very proud of his tree.

We also put a few decorations outside today. After I finally got the decorations assembled, they were ready to be put outside. I got all the decorations placed where I thought we should put them and out came Darrin with a drill so we could put the anchors into the ground. Note to self...next year try to do this before the ground freezes. :)

The holiday season officially begins

Darrin and I took Max to see Santa today. Thankfully, he is not afraid of Santa and doesn't have a meltdown when asked to take a picture with Santa. He just walks up and takes the picture. I felt sorry for some of the parents.

Tricia and I were up early yesterday and hit the sales in Rapids. I got the majority of my shopping done and, of course, picked up a couple of good deals for myself. I also got a small artificial tree and some Cars decorations for Max. We decorated his tree last night and he loves it. He's very proud of his new tree and tries to hold the phone up to the tree so whomever he's talking to can see it.

Tony's last race in the Home Depot car

Sunday, November 16

Up semi-early again...had to catch the charter bus to the racetrack! We arrived safely at the track and immediately headed for pit road. I was on the lookout for Tony Stewart, because I was sure he wouldn't stand me up two days in a row!

Terri and I walked around pit road. Terri wanted to get some photos of Jeff Gordon's pit and car for her grandson and I, of course, was looking for big orange, The Home Depot #20.

Orange County Choppers had some of their bikes there. I took some photos of some of them and of Jason Pohl and Rick Petko of OCC. Paul Sr. and Mikey were there later, but I didn't know that until I went to the OCC site to check the spelling of Jason and Rick's last names. Damn!

We walked on the track for a bit, took some more pictures and then realized we hadn't had anything to eat, so headed off of pit road to eat. We then watched some of the SPEED Race Day Show live and some live interviews on the Coca-Cola stage with Elliot Sadler (a very handsome man) and the 2008 Nationwide Series Champion Clint Bowyer.

Pre-race activities, driver intros, card stunt, invocation, anthem, flyover, gentleman start your engines!!!! Woo-hoo, it's finally race time!!!

It's Homestead, of course you're going to see the Rousch cars up front, but wait, I see big orange making his way through traffic. Here kitty, kitty, kitty! The kitty's name was Matt Kenseth, and big orange went by...he's in the lead, I'm pumped. YES! Tony is finally going to win a race I'm at...and how cool that it's his last race in the Home Depot car for Joe Gibbs Racing. I quickly turn the scanner back to Smoke's team channel only to hear Zippy (Tony's crew chief) tell him that they'll be 15 laps short on fuel. My heart sunk and I was praying for another caution.

I was thinking to myself, can someone go find Kurt Busch and see if he wouldn't mind hitting the wall again? I also tried to keep an eye out for Juan Pablo Montoya, surely he'd be taking someone out! Nope, no such luck for me or the #20. An 9th place finish.

Tony and I weren't able to connect this weekend. Maybe his cell phone was broke. :) I guess we'll meet up in Vegas.

And yes, I'll be posting some pictures!

Nationwide-Lap 89

Saturday, November 15

I was up shortly after 3 a.m. after not sleeping well in the first place worried I'd sleep through my alarm and not make my flight. I was washed, make-up'd, packed and ready to go shortly after 5 a.m. and Terri would be arriving around 5:30 to begin our journey to Miami.

We made it through the Hibbing/Chisholm security and were allowed to get on the plane to Minneapolis. Arrived at Minneapolis, had lunch, got back on a plane. At least this time the plane was heading to a warmer destination.

Shortly after 3 p.m. we arrived in Fort Lauderdale and were ready to head south to Homestead-Miami Speedway to watch the Nationwide race. After finally getting our rental car (we decided to upgrade to a convertible--out of our own pockets, the Foundation isn't paying for the upgrade!) we were on the road to the racetrack! We finally arrived at lap 89.

It was a good race with a great finish! I've got some good pictures I'll be posting of "cousin" Carl Edwards' victory back flip.

Tony Stewart and I must have messed up our communication, because we didn't meet up with each other. Dang it! Oh well, I would surely meet up with him the next day.

Feeling guilty...

Darrin and Max left for the Cities yesterday, so I had the evening to myself. I was almost giddy on my way home, because I don't think I've had much time to myself since Max was born...I know, a common issue once you become a mom.

I was so happy to clean out the bathroom cabinets without some little hands digging into everything I was trying to organize. I also did a couple of loads of laundry and folded them without my little darling throwing my nicely folded items across the living room. I was actually making progress on things without another area of the house being torn apart. A major feat in my world.

When I finally started to get myself ready for some well earned sleep, I felt guilty about enjoying time to myself without my husband and son. I KNOW there's nothing to feel guilty about, but that doesn't stop me.

Oh, and how sick is it that I'm excited to get home and do some more organizing and cleaning tonight? Pretty sad, huh?

I finally got around to messing around with the look of the blog here! Yahoo! I used some of my digital scrapbooking "supplies" and came up with the new look.

What do you think?

Monster Truck!

A fews week ago, Papa Bob got Max his very own monster truck. Not like the monster trucks he pushes around the living room. Oh no! He drives this monster truck. This monster truck has a name...Monster Traction.

Max loves his monster truck and takes his driving responsibilities very seriously. He prefers to take the truck off-road. Why would he want to drive on the driveway, when he could go over the hills and dirt?

Grumpy Update

Grumpy got sprung from the hospital yesterday afternoon. Max and I spoke with him last night and he's in good spirits, a little discomfort and said "his pride is hurt."

A home health nurse will be assigned to grumpy (and mom) to help "rehabilitate" him. He was a little ornery about the rehabilitation. "I don't know what they'll be doing! What, are they gonna teach me to walk or something?" I suggested that maybe they'll give him some exercises to do that will make his leg stronger so it won't give out on him again. "Oh yeah. Yeah, I suppose."

Grumpy does not like doing the exercises that are assigned to him. So, this will be an interesting process.

Thanks to everyone for their well-wishes to Grumpy!

Tough ol' Grumpy

Grumpy took a fall this morning. He was doing his morning exercises of walking around the house and his legs gave out on him. Initially, once mom was able to get him back into bed anyway, he was not in much pain and, being Grumpy, he refused to let mom take him to the ER or doctor.

When Darrin told Max that Grumpy fell and hurt himself, Max said, "I kiss it. Make it better!"

Later in the day, the pain in Grumpy's leg became excruciating and he required a trip to the doctor/ER. He wouldn't let mom take him out of the house before she cleaned him up a bit and put some pants on him. Thankfully, his insurance company agreed to pay for an ambulance to take him in, because he couldn't walk and mom isn't strong enough to lift and help him out to the van.

The goods news is that he didn't break any bones, but the docs wanted to keep him in the hospital at least overnight.

We love you, Grumpy! Get well soon! We're all sending hugs and kisses...and Max really wants to kiss it and make it better.

This picture of Grumpy was taken just before we went out trick or treating with Max.

Our little monkey

This year, Max seemed to really get the meaning of Halloween...CANDY! Trick 'r teet! The first thing he asked on Saturday morning was if we were going trick 'r teeting again.

Our little monkey really enjoyed the sugar high he experienced after candy gathering started around noon with a stop at mom's work. Not only did the foundation provide treats for the kids, but almost all of the employees that were in provided our trick or treaters with some candy too.

Additional candy stops included Papa Bob's, Uncle Matt and Auntie Tricia's (who also had a nice bag of treats from Norm and Beth) and our final stop of the night was G&G Gangl's who also had an extra bag of treats for Max from Uncle Dale and Auntie Dana.

Here's a photo of Max's "monkey suit." And, yes, I will most likely be doing some digital scrapbook layouts of Halloween. :)
