Ch-ch-ch-changes

If you read the blog online (as opposed to through email or RSS readers), you will notice it changing a bit over the next couple of weeks.  I am going to be experimenting a bit with customizing the layout.  So, things may look out of sorts every now and then as I play around.

The big boy potty!

At 9:07 this morning, my work phone rang.  Caller ID showed me it was my home number calling, so I assumed it was Darrin.  I was wrong!  After I answered, a little voice on the other end whispered "potty" to me.  Then the little voice started to loudly say "potty, potty, potty, mama, potty!"

Max went pee-pee in the big boy potty this morning.  His dad and Grandpa Ralph have been bribing him with money if he'll use the big boy potty.  Since Max likes to put money in his bank, he decided to take the bribe.  Knowing my boy, I should probably stop and pick up a new piggy bank for him on the way home.  :)

I'll report back later this week if he's still using the big boy potty, because he teased us a few months back that he might be ready.  But, I'm happy to report this new milestone!

He's tall

Max had his 2 year-old checkup yesterday. I'm happy to report he's a very healthy boy!

No shots this time around, but he did have to have a finger poked for blood. No crying, no whincing, nothing from Max. He sat there and watched the lady do her job. Then he picked his bandaid (Diego) and some stickers (again, more Diego).

Then he turned to the tech, waved and said "bye" to her and each person we met on the way out.

His stats:
37" tall (95th percentile)
29 pounds (60th percentile)

Obama, Obama, OOOOOOBAAAAAMMMAAAAAA!

Darrin and I may have a little political activist on our hands. Last week while making dinner, I kept Max as occupied as possible by playing a recorded monster truck race. The race ended while we were eating dinner and then the TV went to it's regular, live programming; which happened to be the Democratic National Convention.

The speakers were saying Obama every third word or so and Max took a liking to the name. Yelling it out in succession many times during dinner. He was very vocal! It's quite comical, because he really gets into it sometimes.

So what does this (Independent) daughter of a staunch Republican father do? She immediately picks up the phone so Max can yell his new word at grandpa. Papa Bob is now working very hard to teach Max to say John McCain.

I will try to capture one of Max's Obama chants on video and post it here. Until then, just imagine a two year-old chanting Obama.

When I asked Max who the next president of the United States would be, he said, "Daddy!" Hmmm?!?
